What is
My IP address?
What is
my IP address? Do you know the answer of this question, may be. But actually
most of people among us don’t know about the answer. So now let me
emphasize the term in a very simple way.
IP
address (Internet Protocol address) is a very important address for all the
devices which are being used in the field of Information Technology such as
printers, routers, modems, etc. IP address is mandatory for all the IT devices
which want to communicate with each other using a computer network. Just
imagine that IP address is like your home address and the network is like your
town. Now if anyone from town (network) wants to send a invitation (message) to
you, then he must be having your home address (IP address). Without the
specific address you will not be able to receive the information.
Domain
Name System plays
very important role in this area as it translates the IP address in words
because it is much easier to remember a set of words instead of a set of
numbers. For example, it is easier to remember my domain name http://www.arunendra.in/ in comparison to and IP address
202.85.189.147.
There is
further classification of IP addresses which is as bellow:
1. Dynamic IP address
2. Static IP address
3. IPv4
4. IPv5
5. IPv6
Dynamic
IP Address:
Dynamic
IP address can be changed at any point of time. It is helpful for those users
who don’t want to have same IP address every time. The customers who are
using dial up connection, wireless and high speed internet connection can avail
Dynamic IP address.
Static IP
Address:
Static IP
address becomes same for all the time. Most of the ISPs generally do not
provide static IP address.
IPv4:
The
number of computer in network is rising day by day, so now days IPv4 is being
much popular among the industry.
IPv5:
This IP
address is not used by lay man generally. It is used by UNIX based systems.
IPv6:
Basically
for the replacement purpose for aging IPv4.
